GUNUNGSITOLI — SEGARIS.CO — A case of alleged identity misuse has resurfaced, this time involving Libertini Harefa alias Ina Alfa, who suspects that her identity was misused by Adisama Harefa, former Village Head of Sihare’o I Tab.
This allegation is strengthened by an official document from PT PLN UP3 Nias, which responded to Libertini Harefa’s report regarding the change of the name of the electricity meter customer.
In the reply letter issued by the ULP Gunungsitoli Manager, it was stated that the customer in the name of Libertini Harefa with customer ID 127100260566, tariff/power R2T/5500 VA, had been transferred upon request to the name Adisama Harefa, using the same data.
This raises questions regarding the data verification procedure by the local PLN.

Siswanto Laoli, Chairman of the National Guard of State Defense Organization (DPC Gunungsitoli City), expressed his support for Libertini Harefa’s report.
He urged law enforcement to immediately investigate the alleged identity misuse.
“We leave it entirely to law enforcement to thoroughly investigate this case and examine the parties suspected of being involved, including the alleged perpetrator,” he said.
Siswanto also highlighted the potential for negligence on the part of PLN in this case.
“PLN should have conducted an in-depth survey of the applicant’s address before granting the name change request. We suspect there are weaknesses in their verification system,” he added.
This case is a reminder of the importance of protecting personal data amid the increasing threat of identity misuse.
Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (UU PDP) expressly prohibits the collection and use of personal data without permission.
In addition, Article 95B of Law Number 24 of 2013 provides a criminal threat of up to 10 years and a fine of IDR 1 billion for perpetrators of population document falsification.
The case is now in the public eye, awaiting follow-up from the authorities to enforce the law and provide justice for Libertini Harefa. [Nota Lase/***]
